Most people I know raise money for charity by climbing mountains, walking hundreds of kilometres through bushland overnight or growing facial hair...but not me.

I'm going to wear clothes to work ....and not just any old clothes.

I'm dressing up for this year’s Dare to Wear Day!

I'm channelling my inner 'Mother of the Bride" and wearing the fabulous Teena Varigos dress that my mother wore to my sister's wedding in 1988, so you know it's good. Just look at the way those sequins sparkle in the sunlight.

Dare to Wear Day supports Fitted for Work, a not-for-profit organisation which helps women experiencing disadvantage get work and keep it building skills and confidence through interview training, mentoring, transition to work programs, and a free business clothes outfitting service.

75% of women who visit Fitted for Work are employed within 3 months, so this is a very worthwhile cause to support!

In recognition of the courage that characterises so many women experiencing disadvantage and looking for work, I am going to dress up in my Mother of the Bride best on Monday 31st March 2014. 

I'll be catching the 413 bus to the city, walking down George St, doing all my usual work day things and catching the train home and I'll post the photographic proof!

I suspect it will be uncomfortable.

In fact, I'm sure I'll feel embarrassed... but really, I'm thinking that's a small price to pay to support the great job they do at Fitted for Work.

Every $110 I raise supports another woman to find employment.
